WINTERFEST comes to Perth Sunday 24th June 2012 5-8pm

WINTERFEST – SUNDAY 24TH JUNE 2012   5-8pm  St George’s Cathedral, 38 St Georges Terrace, Perth

A little slice of Europe is coming to Perth bringing traditional Markets,  winter festivities & even snow!!

Based on a traditional German Winter Market Winterfest, is part of the City of Perth’s Winter Arts Season & will bring wonderful warmth & festivity to the middle of winter.  In it’s second year Winterfest is bigger & better than ever.

Feasting, fire, fun & festivities will warm your heart & soul as the Cathedral comes alive with a magical Candlelit Service at 5pm followed by a celebration of winter culture & fabulous food. On offer will be delicious & hearty dishes from Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Italy & more. Traditional Gingerbread biscuits, pretzels, paella, bratwurst and Goulash with warm mulled wine can be enjoyed on the backdrop of the magnificent Cathedral. Authentic German dishes will be baked in a bakery and oven which was originally established by German immigrants in the early 1900s – now belonging to The Woodfired Baker in Maylands.

This year we are excited to have ‘REAL SNOW’ at the event with the wonderful Snow Dome for kids & adults alike to enter a world of white magic!

A spectacular & vibrant show of lights & fire will captivate you. Live music from Belleville, an acoustic Gypsy Swing band will entertain all & keep the kids dancing. Fire-dancers, fairy lights & the unique lights of Council House opposite will be sure to provide a fabulous atmosphere for this wintery feast.

To help warm the hearts of others this winter part profits from the event will go to Yipirinya, a pioneering indigenous school in the Northern Territory with links to Christ Church Grammar School.
