VQ Night Market kicked off with a bang last Thursday 13th March at Victoria Quay….E-Shed was transformed into a festivity of food & fun as the crowds flocked to get a taste of this fresh new event to hit the Port City…there was something for everyone as people of all ages, nationalities & walks of life were catered for…celebrating our creativity & diversity this new Market brings together dishes, music & entertainment from all corners of the globe to be enjoyed as the sun sets on the iconic Port.

Minky G & Rosco’s music was the perfect accompaniment to the eating & drinking, whilst Delroy (of Claybird fame) crooned later into the night with his soul smooth vocals. The Silent Disco was the big hit of the night – enjoyed by all ages it was great to see families gather to show off their dance skills or lack of – the best fun to have without raising any decibels!
Kids & adults alike were entertained by Renzo our resident balloon creator & with the back drop of the magnificent sunset over the water it made for a perfect night out.
With plenty of options for dinner & a drink or two from one of the 3 licensed bars on site – Thursday nights are now sorted for the next 5 weeks…running until 17th April from 5-9pm at Victoria Quay it’s the place to be – plenty of free parking from 4pm, the train station on our doorstep, all the regular shops open for trade at E-Shed as well as special free tours on board The Leeuwin (when in Port only) & special dining offers at the B-Shed Cafe – the VQ Night Market is a must to add to your calendar – grab some friends & head down one Thursday night soon!

Huge & massive thanks to everyone who is a part of making the Twilight Hawkers Market such an incredible success every week over 6 months in our city. We are very humbled to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizens Award. It is a huge honour for us in only our 3rd season amongst such other worthy & notable events in Perth…it has been a true delight to see this event grow from its very humble beginning in 2011 when we took a risk & hoped people would come! Big thanks especially to the City of Perth for believing in us & taking the risk too – we love working with you all & are so grateful for this opportunity. The recently refurbished Forrest Place is the perfect location & we are thrilled to see the city bustling & thriving on a Friday night each week over the season. Extending Perth’s food culture has been both challenging & rewarding – it’s hard to imagine very few people knew what couscous was back in the early days in 2011 when now there are queues for such exotic dishes as koshary, pierogi, cachapas, empanadas, shakshuka & people can’t get enough of fideua, asado, paella, tagines, arepas to name just a few of the tasty dishes on offer each Friday.

With publicity reaching as far afield as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia & Spain, coverage in several international publications, inflight magazines, TV & news shows, international social media & attracting sponsorship from Air Asia for 2 years running the Twilight Hawkers Market showcases Perth food culture at its most diverse & colourful. We are proud to celebrate our multi-cultural diversity at the Market & blessed to have all of this right in the heart of our city. It is fitting that an Award of this stature would be received on Australia Day when we have much to celebrate in this great city & nation where people from over 30 countries come together each Friday to create this wonderful Market. Working together we can achieve anything!
Of course this market is impossible without the support & commitment of the City of Perth, our hard working stallholders, our wonderful local performers, our electricians working hard behind the scenes & most importantly the passionate & dedicated team at Events & Beyond – you are all amazing & greatly valued – thank you for making this Market what it is today for the people of Perth & beyond.
